TERMS & CONDITIONS

Please take some time to read through our Terms & Conditions before booking onto any sessions. Thanks

Landing Bolts Skateboard Coaching is a Lechlade-based coaching business that specialises in providing private and group coaching services for beginner skateboarders of all ages in a fun and safe environment.

Skater experience / Lesson levels

Landing Bolts will deliver the Skateboard GB ‘Cruiser Award’ programme; this programme supports first time skateboarders to master the skills needed to get the skateboarding buzz.  Everyone who undertakes the Cruiser Award will be taught the 6 fundamentals of skating and each stage will receive a progress card (which provides info on how to practice that particular skill) and a sticker – which they can put on their board or helmet.

  • Level 1 - Beginners / Intro to skateboarding

Ages 5 - 13

This is our entry level course that gives children the opportunity to learn the core skill needed to ride safely on a skateboard. Even if this is their first time on a skateboard they will have great fun and learn a few new skills during the sessions. They’ll learn which foot they should push with, how skateboards pick up their skateboard and how to get back on a board when holding it. The course will then progress to going up and down some ramps for the kids that are ready for it and finish with a fun trick, the board flip!

  • Level 2

Ages 6 - 13

This is our middle group which will help children develop a few more skills to get the comfortable at cruising around a skatepark without assistance. Ideal for children that can already ride along and go down some ramps, but need to improve on techniques such as kick turns, dropping in and carving.

  • Level 3

Ages 6 - 16

These sessions are for our intermediate and advanced students that are looking to further enhance their skill in an environment that encouraged progression, resilience and patience in a fun way.

Booking Policy

Dom has limited availability for sessions. A session is confirmed once money is received. If for any reason you cannot attend the session, and give more than 48hrs notice, Dom will endeavour to reschedule the session to another time, but this is an act of goodwill and if a suitable time cannot be arrange, no refund will be given, but this is unlikely.

If Dom is unable to deliver your session for any reason, sickness for example, your session will be rearranged for another time. If an appropriate time cannot be found, a refund will be offered.

If the minimum number of people (two) required to run a group session is not met, Dom will contact you to discuss alternative options.

Weather

Sadly, skateboarding is not a safe in the rain or if the skatepark equipment is wet. If Dom decides it is unsafe to skate, he will contact you to rearrange an alternative time. Dom will make the final call on whether it is safe to skate and for that reason it might mean a session has to be rearranged with little or no notice.

Media

The booking form asks for your opinion about photography/filmography ahead of the session. Photos and videos are taken for use on the Landing Bolts website and social media. Children will not be named in associated posts. If you would like to change your mind about media permissions at any point, no problem, just contact Dom. We would be happy to take and send some shots of yourself or your children to see progress but will need you to give permission for this on the booking form.

Supervision

One-to-ones

Parents are encouraged to spectate at the sessions, although not essential. Children ages 5 to 7 must be collected at the end of the session by an adult. If you feel that your child is old enough to attend and leave the class independently, please indicate this on the booking form. Dom will inform you at the point your child leaves the session. If a child does not attend the session within 10 minutes of the start time Dom will call the contact number on the booking form. For this reason, it is essential to complete the booking form ahead of the fist session.

Group sessions

In order to provide appropriate supervision in a public space, an adult must attend with any children aged below 7 years old. Of course, more adults are very welcome. Group sessions are capped at four individuals to enable appropriate supervision and tuition.

First aid and emergencies

Skateboarding is an inherently a risky sport. Helmets, knee & elbow pads and wrist guards must be worn by beginners, some sizes can be borrowed. Dom will carry a basic first aid kit and your booking form outlines permission for him to administer first aid. In the event of a more significant injury or an emergency, Dom will contact the emergency services (if required) and the contact number on the booking form. For that reason, the booking form must be completed ahead of the first session. If you child has had a bump that causes concern, Dom will let you know at the end of the session.

Safeguarding and Tuition techniques

Skate tuition requires a level of physical contact. Dom is a qualified Skateboard GB coach and also holds a AASI Snowboard instructor qualification.

Skate tuition will take place in a public skatepark. We will encourage safe skatepark etiquette during the sessions, but it should be noted that there will be other skatepark users.

Dom will not take your children away from the agreed site of tuition. For that reason, please ensure that your children have been to the toilet before the session. There is a toilet at the Memorial Hall in Lechlade, but it may not be open.

We take safeguarding very seriously. Dom has received training in safeguarding. Any concerns will be escalated to the appropriate professional.
